Rave Run Experienced by a Fleet Feet Training Participant in San Juan

I always find interesting places to run when I travel.  In SJU I like to run from the Condado  area into "Old San Juan."  It is along the huge wall that used to encircle the entire city.  On one side is the Caribbean Sea - azure blue, shimmering with delight - and you run by many old fortifications - long crumbled - and two monstrous forts.  It's surprisingly hilly and always hot and humid (which kicks my behind a bit).  I run to the second fort - Castillo San Felipe del Morro which is perched on a dramatic point overlooking the entrance to the San Juan Harbor.  That fort (more a stone castle) has stood as sentinel over the harbor for centuries.   No joke, you can feel the spirits swirling around it.  There is a final hill leading to the gate of the fort and I always run up that, across the entrance bridge to the massive wooded doors.  I stop, reach up high as I can and place my palm on the middle seam of the giant doors - and pause...   (I can't really say why).  Then I turn and run back.
